I sincerely suggest if you have any post secondary education and previous experience but still have barriers to employment, go somewhere else. They are insincere and instantly reject anyone who "needs" to find secure employment. Furthermore they advise clients not to pursue legally going after a company even when there is a case of illegal discrimination.

If I could post zero stars I would. Yes you can has no empathy for those with disabilities even though they are advertised as a job placement agency for people who have barriers to employment. I went in on recommendation from a friend who spoke very highly of the place and who received placements and positive feedback. What I got was the opposite. I was told I had lack of confidence and because my resume had gaps in it due to mental health leave. I was asked to do a pre-employment program. I went to do the program. But was harassed for 3 weeks day in and day out. I did talk to the staff at the pre employment program who did NOTHING to adhere to their "ZERO TOLERANCE TO HARASSMENT POLICY" so I dropped the program. I was asked to come back the following month halfway through the program. Which I did but had trouble fitting in as it wasn't from the beginning. I couldn't click with the new classmates or adapt. I was lost. And on top of that the pre-employment program WITHHELD ME from taking first aid cpr and a couple other certification everyone else was getting. Why was it just me being withheld? So I left that time and tried to explain to yes you can I tried. I put in the effort 2 times to complete program under poor conditions. Not to mention SHEILA Cut me off when trying to explain my side of the story. Maybe yes you can should employ staff who have empathy. Cause this person thought it was okay to assume I'm not job ready because I have mental health stuff. I'm also autistic and group settings ARE VERY NERVE WRACKING and cause sensory overloads for me yet I was trying. For a place that is supposed to be helping the communities disabled to find a job and be successful. They certainly don't know how to do their job and shouldn't be given the time of day until they get new staff and a trained properly to be empathetic and understanding to ppls situations. You're dealing with people who have a harder time getting jobs than the rest of the general population. That's all I got to say. 110% DO NOT RECOMMEND

Highly recommended. They are such a great team at YYC and and helping me through out this experience I have with them and supporting me through my barriers. Also great mental health advocates and great with communication. With YYC I have More confidence in myself and will always recommend them. Thank you YYC.

For future reference this is from Covid.

So I would like to preface this with I live 4 km away from them, and I'm broke so I had to walk here.

I'm also disabled. These are two things they knew of before I stepped in the building.

Despite that they wanted me to come in person which is fine. Sure. Everything is good up until we get to the meeting.

It lasted two minutes and it was detailing how they didn't want to reject me over the phone and wanted to do it in person. Somehow this was doing me a favor. Please reconsider this before you needlessly mess with anyone else.

Don't bother with them, it's embarrassing they even run advertising or even have their name. 'YesYouCan' can I recommend 'NoYouCan't' going forward, and perhaps stop advertising until you can actually help people.

Sincerely, someone whom time was especially wasted in this hot weather.

Horrible experience with staff they were rude and not helpful .. I was treated with disrespect over the phone and they won’t work with individuals who have have a lack of time management skill go to Soo Career Services or E.R employment agencies do not us these ppl they are hateful rude and full of disrespect they look at you as a lower class because they have work at the moment and you don’t. Disgusted once again SSM!

I'm on disability, and they really did their best for me. I came to the conclusion that I was not yet ready to be employed, and they were very understanding in that regard and told me that I am welcome back any time. I learned some valuable things while I was there that I can apply not only to employment, but every day life. And being assured that I can come back when I'm ready was very assuring. They're a great group of people. I will be using their services in the future.
