This is the biggest rural hospital in Alberta that I've ever visited. The emergency room is always full, which explains why they have several admission units. The nurses here seem very knowledgeable in what they do. The only thing is that you need to pay for parking, but anyway, it was not bad at all. It was definitely a great visit, and I am glad Wetaskiwin has such a nice hospital to accommodate people who are in need.

This is the level of care I get being admitted to this hospital
. For the most part the care in the ER department was better than I’m used to. But the care upstairs on units 35 and 33 admitted with critically low potassium and heart rate not tolerating it at all. Because I have a chronic illness medical staff know much about
I’m sent home last Sunday and have spent a week trying to recover put back on some of the 20plus pounds lost due to not being fed all week being told we must bring in all 3 meals from home every day. Which wasn’t doable so I got no food most days unless my partner was able to bring high fat high calorie snacks in. We begged for home supports and follow up and for this IV to be taken out and it’s now Friday and it’s still in my arm

I usually like this hospital but today's visit was really bad. The emergency nurse wasn't even in triage. No one was there for over half an hour, lots of people were waiting, even an ambulance came in and there was no one admitting anyone. I found out when she finally came back that she got "caught up talking" to another staff member. Glad she gets paid big dollars to neglect her duties of care. She could have at the very least had someone fill in while she went to socialize. The second part I am angry about is everyone kept losing my labs. They lost my pee test and I heard the nurses say they didn't know where my xrays went to. I have never been so angry at how disorganized the staff are. Normally we prefer this hospital but today was really bad.

Went in on the first of January, it was already past midnight.
Me and my family went into the hospital in a hurry because my daughter's stomach was on a ten level pain.
We called the hospital first to double check they had no waiting time, the receptionist on the phone said that they were available and free. Me and my family went out of city in order to drive to the hospital in a distant town. We had waited for at least 5 hours with no check up. During our miserable stay sitting at the waiting room for our turn, a boy who didn't even seem to have any trouble was chosen to be seen first.
Ilene, one of the nurses there, refused to take my daughter for a check up due to busy schedules. The receptionist was nice, however Ilene, the nurse, was not. She was disrespectful and disregarded my daughter's care and the fact her stomach was hurting. My daughter even cried and nobody bothered to help her.
We ended up leaving the hospital without any idea why my daughter's stomach cried due to this hospital's unreliability.
Wetaskiwin Hospital, find better staff who care more about health and care than paychecks and salary.
Two weeks later now, my daughter is alright however to this day, we don't know what caused her stomach to hurt so painfully.

I went in for a Full hysterectomy and it was a very scary ordeal for me prior to meeting nursing and Dr.Bawdawi !! They were amazing ! Making the experience comfortable, and I had a great stay with active prompt nursing staff and a great follow up the next day ! I highly recommend unit 45 all the way !!! Thank you for making this experience as gentle as possible !!!

I took my almost three year old daughter into the emergency room last night. The staff was amazing as was the doctor we dealt with. We only waited 15 minutes before they had a room ready for her. She had to have blood drawn and the nurses were amazing. They prepped her with numbing gel prior to doing the blood draw and she didn’t even flinch. This hospital gets a bad rap, but every time we’ve had to go here we’ve been given the best, most thorough care.

I had a baby in this hospital a couple months ago. While the Labour & Delivery nurses were great before and after the birth.. during the birth was horrible. They were rushing me, yelling at me that I wasn’t pushing properly, they were yelling at me to stop moving my legs (even though you should be able to deliver how you want) .. they created such a hectic and stressful environment and it only took 6 minutes for my daughter to be born. The nurses in aftercare however were very awesome.

There were issues after the birth as well that I wish was clearly communicated to me afterwards. I didn’t know how serious the issues were until after my 6 week postpartum appt after going home and looking up what had happened to me. I am very thankful to the doctor for doing what he needed to do to keep me well but it was very painful and I didn’t know why he had to cause me so much pain in those moments after the birth.
