I was barely able to keep up with minimum payments and constantly worried about falling behind on my bills. Most of my income went to paying off credit card interest and predatory lenders. After coming to the decision that I had to urgently do something about my debt, I called Welker and Associates in Stratford and met with Sue Jung. It has been the best decision I have made financially.

Sue was professional, courteous and understanding. She was able to break down and explain the vicious cycle of debt most people find themselves in. She was thorough in explaining the differences between a consumer proposal and a bankruptcy, and how choosing either avenue will affect my financial health today and tomorrow. Keeping both my current circumstances and future well being in mind, she was able to help me make an informed decision about tackling my debt. Sue was objective, but at the same time sympathetic, and her genuine interest in helping me live debt free and lead a happier life was reassuring. She guided me through all of the steps of a proposal, appointment by appointment, without missing a beat.

I was fearful of calling a debt counselor at first because I thought the whole process and the red tape around it would be daunting and timely, but that was not the case at all. My first appointment with Sue was a free lengthy consultation, where she was able to review my debts and inform me about the options available. Having decided which avenue I wanted to travel, I signed all of the documents in our second appointment and have not worried about creditors harassing me ever since. Sue and the staff at Welker and Associates made this big step an easy one for me.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, I would highly recommend calling Welker and Associates in Stratford and meeting with Sue Jung.

Had an appt last week to review my girlfriend's financial situation - Sue Jung (Welker's VP) told us to come in a week later for a 4pm appointment (today). As we both work, that was just barely late enough to make it after-shift, but that was fine.

Sue then forgot to book us into her calendar, and double booked the 4pm time slot. When my girlfriend showed up to confirm the appointment (as no email had been sent), Sue didn't remember who we were, what today's appt was supposed to be for, and instead of owning the mistake, just told her 'it'd be tough to squeeze us in at 4'.

She then offered an appt at 2:30, which wasn't doable, again, because I work and it'd be giving my boss no notice if I left. The right thing to have done would have been for her to stay later to fit us in after her new 4pm appt, since this was 100% not our mistake, but that wasn't offered at the time.

We jointly decided not to move forward with Welker, and advised them of such.

Update: After we made it clear that we were not interested in doing business with them over the mishandling, Sue called me back and tried to convince us to show up to another, later, appointment, and claimed I was 'not letting her make this right' when I stuck to our original decision. It was too little, too late - the trust was already broken.

Despite being told - clear as day - that Nat and I had jointly decided not to proceed with Welker, Sue then calls my girlfriend up and tries to convince her to take a later appointment anyway, which was also rejected. Very manipulative.

If you're reading this, you're probably dealing with financial insolvency, which is a big deal.

I can't recommend a business that can't get something as simple as an appointment right, won't do the right thing to resolve a mistake they made until they've already lost the business, *and* have reps who completely forget your existence in under a week. Nor can I recommend a business that will go to any member of a family unit looking for a 'yes', after they've been told 'no' by the other.
