Not the greatest in communication and explanation. I co-own a small business and I wasn't happy with his handling of our taxes. Also gave little explanation and details about changes necessary in the business when setting up an incorporation for us. I have now learnt about this after switching to another accountant who explained things clearly.

Added on Jan 20 in response to comments below- Would you like copies of all our email correspondence with you so that you can see what we sent you continuously, the details we provided you, the questions we asked you, and then you can also see your dismissive responses? Or would you like a copy of my phone notes with every conversation that we had with you and the follow ups we had with to try and find out what it would be that we need to do to be in compliance. Unlike you Mr. Halabi, I’m a detailed oriented person and I don’t like wasting anyone’s time.
You never provided any information, any details from the very beginning until about one week ago.

I contacted Mr. Halabi in March of 2022 on the basis of a recommendation. I spoke with him on the phone and provided details specific to my families circumstances and the sale of our home in Canada to ensure that he would be able to handle our filings. We are Canadian Citizens but non-residents of Canada living in the USA. He asked for an email with details and I sent that to him right away. My husband and I would check in with him on a monthly basis to see what progress he was making on our filings because we wanted to make sure that he had what he needed from us and that he was preparing the paperwork for the CRA in a timely manner. Also because Mr. Halabi had said that he is able to get the filings done for us but he was not telling us what he would do to get this done. This should have been a warning for us but we trusted the people who had recommended him.
Fast forward to January 2023 where we contact him to find out what progress he has made and what answers he has in regards to what filings we need to complete to ensure proper compliance with the CRA and he comes across as surprised to find out that we do not live in Canada and all of a sudden realizes that there is a slew of documents he needs to obtain from us! When I asked him to provide us a timeline of when he will be able to get the job done he replied with a passive email giving me no answers.

Accuracy with details is big part of an accountants job and Mr. Halabi is not an accurate person nor does it seem that he is detail oriented. He is also unprofessional in his mannerism and just not a pleasant person to deal with. Selling your home no matter under what circumstances is a stressful situation and you need to hire competent professionals who care to do their job well. Mr. Halabi is not that person. Would absolutely not recommend him. Would leave this review at '0' stars if possible.
