Today, Sept. 7 is the second "anniversary" of the accident and I am functioning quite well. That would not have occurred without the help from many folk at Thomson Rogers who offered support and much-needed guidance through the process. This includes Craig Brown our initial contact with Thomson Rogers who visited me in hospital and said: "Don't look for justice here, there is no justice". Words that cleared my mind to move ahead. The connection with Occupational Therapist Amanda Westbrook, was invaluable. She knew what was required and who to contact for the supports necessary to my recovery. My name is Alfred Zielinski, I am from Germany and 63 years old when I was bicycling alone from Winnipeg towards Quebec City and almost road death in a car accident on Hwy 17 near the city of Pembroke, Ontario on September 25th 2023. Til today I do not remember what happened. I came out of coma in Ottawa Hospital October 31st after several lifesaving surgeries and was flown home to Germany on November 9th 2023 where I still live.
