Beware of Unwanted Deliveries, Environmental Disregard, and Serious Security Risks.
I am extremely disappointed with the Temiskaming Speaker and their intrusive newspaper delivery practices. For years, I have been forced to deal with unwanted newspapers dumped on my property every week. This unsolicited delivery is not only a nuisance but also constitutes littering and shows a complete lack of respect for residents and the environment.
To make matters worse, a snow-covered newspaper recently jammed my snowblower, resulting in costly damages. When I contacted the Temiskaming Speaker to complain, their response was dismissive and unapologetic. They even demanded my personal information, which felt intimidating and inappropriate given the circumstances.
I also contacted the Town of Temiskaming Shores to report this issue, but they have yet to acknowledge my complaint or take any action. It's disheartening to see a local business and the town itself disregard the concerns of residents and contribute to environmental pollution.
But it goes beyond just litter and property damage. These unwanted newspapers pose a serious security risk. Think about it; when papers pile up on driveways, porches, or lawns, it's a clear indicator to anyone passing by that the homeowner is away or neglecting their property. This makes those homes more attractive targets for burglars. Criminals often "case" neighborhoods, looking for easy targets. A buildup of newspapers is a telltale sign that no one is home, providing an opportunity for them to break in undisturbed. This isn't just about a few newspapers; it's about the Temiskaming Speaker's blatant disregard for the safety and security of the community. Their irresponsible delivery practices create conditions that make homes more susceptible to break-ins and theft.
I urge everyone to be aware of the Temiskaming Speaker's irresponsible practices and consider the environmental impact and security risks associated with their unwanted deliveries.
Here's a summary of my concerns:
Unsolicited delivery: The Temiskaming Speaker delivers unwanted newspapers without residents' consent. Residents shouldn't need to ask for them to stop deliveries to their doors but more like The Temiskaming Speaker should have the decency to ask residents for their consent.
Littering: Discarded newspapers wrapped in plastic contribute to pollution and create an eyesore in our community.
Property damage: Their irresponsible delivery practices can cause damage to personal property.
Security risk: Accumulated newspapers signal an empty house, making homes vulnerable to break-ins.
Dismissive attitude: The Temiskaming Speaker and the Town of Temiskaming Shores have shown a lack of concern and accountability for this issue.
I hope this review encourages the Temiskaming Speaker to take responsibility for their actions and address this ongoing problem. Until then, I strongly advise residents to be cautious and voice their concerns about these irresponsible practices.
