Dr .VonTonder is the best out there. He’s so kind and caring and shares real life experiences. I swear I am there so often because of my son and they are always welcoming. When I found out I was pregnant I think Dr.VonTonder was more excited than I was! Awesome awesome place. I will only ever go here for care!

I’m so thankful for the amazing staff and doctors at the Sexsmith Clinic. The receptionist is always helpful and answers my questions with a smile. Dr. Van Tonder and his assistants are caring, thoughtful and respectful. We are so blessed to have them in our community!

The blonde receptionist is the absolute rudest person to have as the face of your clinic. I haven’t returned since having to wait over 3 hours, being left naked from the waist down, for a scheduled Pap test . pretty sure they forgot about me. It was an absolute horrifying experience. And could Dr Von Tonder be in any more of a hurry while talking to a patient. Always so rushed, coming in and out, literally trying to walk away and close the door while I’m in mid sentence. The patient care has gone so downhill, it’s quite sad

I’ve been with this clinic since the first day it opened its doors and consider myself very fortunate to have such fantastic care. The doctors and staff have gone above and beyond what is typical of most other clinics.Thank you so much to Dr Von Tonder and all his staff.

So I missed an appointment months ago. My wife and I were very sick with the flu. My wife was supposed to call and cancel my appointment but she forgot.. understandably she was very sick too.. so when I came in I was approached by a very rude miserable reception lady about a $40 no show fee that had to be paid now, cash only!! Lol who carries cash now a days! Well I didn’t have cash, I asked if I could bring it next time. She then yells at me to use the ATM next door!! Umm NO! So now I’m paying $45 with the atm fees. I had no problem paying the $40, I get it I missed the appointment my bad! And I had full intentions on bringing the cash on my next appointment. Until I was verbally attacked being lead to my “closet” for check in, where the assistant Yells at me for not paying my $40 fee. So now I’m the low life native that is no longer welcome here and my appointment’s will no longer be accepted! As she very rudely slammed the door and stormed off I’m sitting there like what the heck just happened? Very disappointing!! I have been coming here for 15 yrs and these women have always been rude and ignorant to me and many others! I then noticed I left my phone on the seat in the waiting room when I went out to grab it I heard her and the dr assistant saying we Natives cause the most problems and we should have our own Medicare on our own reservations! Like really! They were naming the medications I was on and calling me down where the entire waiting room could hear them. They laughed about putting me in a room they call “the closet”. I guess that’s where they put us low life Natives, And make us wait until everyone else is served! I sat for over an hr!! Usually in and out in 15mins! But now I’m on the dirty list! What a joke!! Guess I’m getting a new doctor! Too bad because Dr V isn’t bad, just his help are a bunch of racist women!! What a disappointment in our little town!! These lady’s need to be fired!! I’m glad to see people are leaving reviews about this place and their employees! I have been in talks with alberta health services and have filled a complaint against these people! The more complaints they get the sooner they can be replaced! It’s really to bad that there is still so much racism in this world. Especially with everything the indigenous people have been going through lately! It really is disappointing…..

Made an appointment for a prescription refill. They said the soonest they could get me in was a month later. Told me the appointment was for 10am in the morning. I confirmed with the lady that it was indeed at 10, since I wrote it down.

I get to the clinic only to be told that I missed the appointment at 8am. I told her what had happened and that there was a miscommunication somewhere. She said they were too busy and if I could come back another day. I told her I couldn't because I was out of my prescription that day. She sighed and told me to take a seat.

I wait for 2 and a half hours. 2 and a half hours. Until the nurse notices me and gets the receptionist to call me back up.
"Are you waiting for someone?" she says.
I told her absolutely not, and that I was waiting for her to call me for an appointment that takes maximum 5 minutes. She proceeds to tell me that she said I could come back another day. I told her no, she told me to sit down until she forgot about me for 2 and a half god damn hours.
"Oh. Well let me see what I can do"
I sit for another 15 minutes until a nurse comes to finally bring me to my doctors appointment.
Not once did I get an apology. All I got was a rude and despicable attitude towards a miscommunication that I had no fault in.

I love the doctors and nurses. Too bad your reception staff cant get their together.

My mom is very sick, I have been trying to call this clinic from their so called calling hours. I have been trying literally from 1:05pm - 3:29pm. NOT once could I get a answer. There is not even a spot to leave a message. It is very important that I try to get her into her appointment early next week as I have managed to get her a appointment with the specialist. What is even more frustrating to find out a friend of ours had a appointment today and happened to be sitting there watching the so called receptionist watch the phone ringing......... but NOT answering it!!! for over a hour!!! I am beyond upset about this. My mom is dying, I am trying to get her the best care and arrange her appointments. When you post that you take calls between 1:00-3:30pm you SHOULD ANSWER THE PHONE, not sit there and look at it.I trust this persons word because he was also in shock as he watched.
