I called Samfiru Tumarkin because I see Leor on CP24 and like the way he speaks. At intake, I was informed that there would be a fee of $300 plus GST to review the documents and provide a consultation. When I asked about the free half hour which I thought all law firms offer, I was told that they do not, but that the Law Society offers free consults. I decided to pay the fee as I figured it would take longer to get an appointment with the law society. What I was not told upfront is that the consultation is with a paralegal, not a lawyer. I had to ask during the consult to learn that. While the paralegal I spoke to was great - informative, patient, understanding and kind, the consult fee should be half ($150). Also, since I told the intake person that my goal was to be reinstated and since I learned during the consult that only the OLRB can reinstate, they should have told me that in which case, I did not need the consult. There was also no option given for a f2f or a video call. Lastly, I found out after the fact, that other employment law firms do offer a free consult.
