I was one of Morgan Crossing Notaries first clients when they first opened their doors 11 years ago. And I am still one of their clients today in 2023. They have provided me with competent, efficient and caring service over these years. I trust them implicitly and appreciate their commitment to my legal and professional safety. I had 4 real estate transactions to do in the spring (selling 2 places, refinancing one property and buying a new property). I shopped around and got a competitive quote from Morgan Crossing Notaries. I had used them in the past and decided to go forward with them. The first two transactions went well, and were invoiced to me at the agreed upon rates, but when we went to close on the new house purchase and sale of one property, the final amount charged at the time of signing was almost $1000 more than the quoted amount. I was never informed of an increase in the cost, and of course by that time there is absolutely nothing that you can do since the deal is closing in days. It is a classic bait and switch. They only increased the prices on the last 2 transactions. If they had done this with the first 2 transactions I would have found another company to handle the last 2 transactions. I brought up the issue with my supporting documentation showing the quoted amounts with the owner thinking they made an oversight but was not given a satisfactory explanation, and was told I basically should be happy the fees weren't higher. He said that a higher cost of a house leads to higher fees for insurance purposes, but I had sent all the purchase agreements for the house initially when I got the quote so they knew the sale price right from the very beginning. I even had an email from the owner confirming that the quoted prices would be the prices I would pay (since I actually was buying last house without a mortgage which I thought should actually lower my fees since they didn't have to deal with a mortgage on that sale). He told me straight up in that email that the quoted fees wouldn't be changed then went ahead and actually raised the last two fees. I see other similar stories in reviews of this business and I must say, I didn't believe them because I had used them in the past with no issues. I would now strongly advise everyone to avoid using this company. I am in the process of sending a complaint to the Notary Public overseer as well.
