It was very unfortuned that my bank used a laywer from this company to proccee a foreclosure case on my mortgage. I believe most laywers here are fine, except the one took my case. Here is what happened: Their legal Representative contacted me, tried to arrange a deal to settle my foreclosure case(April 2023). And on May 16th, 2023, we sent out the payment in full as we both agreed on through wired transfer to my mortgage's bank. At June 6th,2023, three weeks after we made the payments in full, I was evicted from my home to the street without any notice in advance. I walked stright to my bank and ended up found out it was some miss communications from the bank side. I was granted access to return my home few hours later. But without doing anything wrong, I was told that I had to pay the full cost of eviction($1600+). And because we couldn't make aggrement on that conflit at that moment, the laywer mark up the legal cost from $6000 to $18,000(Aug 2023) without any trustworthy explanation. Since the court already grant the sale of my property back in March 2023, I had no choice but paid full invoices. The most funny part was, when we were questioning the lawyer why legal cost was so high while we made the payment, his exact answer was, "it was very expensive for my service. I charge $600/visit to the court. " But, the latest offical court order we received was issued on June 3rd, 2023, and the legal cost at that time was still $6000. To most people , 12k might be nothing, but to someone that lost job due to health issue since during pandamic, it could be their life saving money.

I have dealt with a few different lawyers here from the Edmonton office - Chris Lane (employment law), James Lingwood (alcohol/drugs in the workplace), Vicki Giles (employment law). I have found them to be knowledgeable, thorough and reliable. The response times - especially from James - are actually very impressive when compared with other larger firms I've dealt with. Their charge-out rates are relatively higher than most - but you get what you pay for - and I'm okay with that trade-off. They also host an annual employment law update conference (spring of each year, I believe) which is a good overview/discussion of the latest trends in employment law.

The lawyer was a predator. Instead of doing his job in a competent manner, he screwed the case worse. The firm knew what he did, but failed to stand up for me and do the right thing. Hire them at your own risk.
