It took me many months to write this. It is hard for me to process or stomach that you can give over 10k to a lawyer and have them remove themselves from your case because you've come to an agreement with the other party. A year and a half into the process (when our available funds had run out because of a frozen investment account), myself and my husband decided to talk to end the conflict. I had asked Chris over and over (over the year and a half) to let me know what my husband wanted to end the conflict (I made it clear that I was more interested in moving on than fighting for money) and was never given an answer. My (separated) husband now says that he was never asked this question directly but I can't vouch for his truthfulness.

When I contacted Chris to communicate the tentative agreement, and to get his advice about the terms before signing it, he declined to assist and threatened me with court if i did not sign to remove him as my lawyer. I am still not divorced because I gave him every penny and would have to come up with another 3k to retain another lawyer.

I have emails that chronicle all that I have said above.

Signing on with a lawyer is a unique situation where you have to disclose every penny that you have. It is important that you are confident that the lawyer is not predatory. Can you imagine walking into a store to buy something that has no price on it but you have to reveal exactly how much money you have in your wallet, bank accounts, and car ashtray before they decide the price of the goods or service?

If you have a large amount of money sitting around, I would not suggest using this lawyer. I can not think of a way to protect yourself from someone else's intentions but all I can do is relay my experience to help others make their decision.

I still have questions and no lawyer. I am at the mercy of what my estranged husband chooses to let me do with our child without having any idea what my rights are thanks to Mr. Chris McInnis.
