The Law Society of BC protects lawyers, not the public.

Despite repeated complaints, it rarely disciplines members. Investigations are delayed, dismissed, or end in token penalties. It’s a watchdog in name only—more loyal to lawyers than to justice.

My son is dead now, he once attempted to be a lawyer in British Columbia but that was the worst thing he ever decided to do. His name was Malcolm Micheal Brown. He died in my basement absolutely broken down by the treatment he got trying to get an articling job in British Columbia. He did get some disclosure rules changed but that cost him his chance to ever get a job in Canada. Rest in peace my beautiful son Malcolm. My life ended along with yours. I warn people of disclosure, it will lead to not succeeding in becoming a Lawyer.What they will do is what they did to Malcolm is constantly stall getting back to you when you have an offer of an articling job. Malcolm had been offered a job in Vancouver he had apparently been chosen above 60 others. But after his mild disclosure the job offer was taken back. Then after he had two more offers he was then stalled by the person in charge of letting you accept an articling job. This person twice cost Malcolm the employment he wanted because the woman in charge stalled so long that he could not tell his prospective job offers, like others were able to ...that he could start at the requested date. This is how he then realized that to apply for future Law Articling would be futile and he had no hope of employment in his field he went to University for eight years for. Malcolm was then ostracized by his peers and tried to seek mental help in a City where there is none. This treatment constituted a hopelessness that he became overwhelmed by. Beware of Disclosure.

BC Law Society clearly protects lawyers from delays etc., and is prejudiced towards clients whom experience lawyers incompetence.

There solution is go hire another lawyer… if you have a disagreement with your lawyer. what? Like everyone has tonnes of cash laying around to start up with another lawyer.

It has been my experience with my litigation of seven years with my father’s estate that when there’s lots of wealth involved back room deals are made by lawyers to delay the process. Even protecting the theft of the executor.

Yes they do enrich themselves. Wonder why lawyers get such a bad reputation for their corruption and incompetence and get away with it.

Do not think that these people at BCLS will help you to the contrary.

I complaint here because of the lawyer
violated the Rules of Professional Conduct, plagiarized articles, verbal abuse, and dishonest.
I hired a BC lawyer. I payed the lawyer the money to complete the entire case. After a while, she sent me a first draft that has most of the information wrong. Seems like she is plagiarizing someone else’s work. I wanted her to fix the errors but I have difficulty getting reply from her. Later, I require her to calculate and return the fees of where she didn’t complete her work.
I received a reply from her. “We can not assist with you. You can no longer message this user. Rahma blocked you.You can no longer message this user.”
After I make a complaint ,because she wrote and first draft that was full of mistakes. I require her finish her job and apologize to me. But she was very rude and she spread false comments and verbal abuse about me on the internet. The Law Society Investigators say she draft wrong paperwork, but they can’t help with me.They never gave her a warning to improve her actions. I believe that this lawyer doesn’t care about whether I make a complaint to the Law Society or not, because she knows that the vast majority of complaint letters do not lead to a hearing and formal discipline of the lawyer . The law society should doing best and reinforcing fairness for every case.

Besides being the law society of BC, and all that entails the have a cafeteria open to the public.

They serve a variety of things but also have a section with Indian food, specifically butter chicken. That's what people come here for, there are often lines (don't worry they move fast).

Don't expect anything spectacular but you can eat for just under $10. For the price it's pretty good.
