As tax season approaches, I strongly encourage potential clients to review past feedback before deciding to entrust their finances to Headquarters.

My personal experience was extremely disappointing. From poor communication with Tim and Kelly to their failure to claim thousands of dollars in deductions, the service fell far below expectations. When I pointed out the missing information, I was met with immediate denial and excuses rather than a willingness to resolve the issue. The level of customer service—if it can even be called that—was wholly inadequate.

If you want your taxes prepared accurately and optimized to your best benefit, I strongly recommend seeking a more reliable and professional tax service elsewhere.

Hired to do taxes for my small business, and I. Charged $6,000. I never received my personal taxes, and the business was all wrong. Paid for gas well that's a shareholders loan. Paid for new equipment well that's a shareholders loan. Essentially every expense was written in as a shareholders loan, and they also changed a bunch of numbers to make the debits and credits line up.
Don't bother with these jokers. Might as well hire a grade 9 accounting student as they would have more expertise.
Was not refunded any part despite incomplete job. Had to hire someone else to finish and fix all their work.
Oh and we could see the time they spent on it. It was around 6 hours making them more expensive per hour than the highest priced lawyer in Calgary city.

Edit: The work was done improperly and I wasn't satisfied. He isn't my brother, but we do work together. Seems there was even another negative review from someone else. Again we paid a fortune and had to pay someone else to fix 100% of your work. Considering you were doing taxes for several members of his family, which I am not part of I suggest you take it up with him and leave me out of it. Review the email I sent you before if you need more clarification. I and my company were two work orders and I found neither fulfilled.

Writing this in hopes that this could save another business owner time and money wasted on what has truly been an awful experience.

Not only was I left with my books a mess, clients were deleted from Quickbooks and expenses were entered as new clients, it is clear and the company even admitted to their lack in experience with Quickbooks (the most common accounting software there is).

The icing on the cake was being accused of hiding expenses because expenses were provided as an excel spreadsheet and not as a PDF. Simply because as a sole proprietor, personal expenses needed to be removed.

I wish I had seen the many other 1 star reviews prior to engaging with this company. Hopefully this helps someone else. I've since engaged with an excellent bookkeeper who's seen everything that was provided to them and assured me that they had everything they needed to input correctly.

Completely junk, they took my salary and dividends and turned them into share holder loans. Any previous year, I never took shareholder loans. Now there's no salary on my balance and the profit the company made makes zero sense as most of it was paid out.

They didn't ask enough questions, probably didn't care...

Other deductions weren't made, double entries of expenses in bookkeeping and etransfers not labeled, but hey the numbers match right? Also I have never had to pay such a large amount of corporate income tax. Didn't look at previous bookkeeping.

Audit logs about maybe 5 to 7 hours of mediocre work, an hour here or there (OVER 4 MONTHS)

I'll have to get another accountant to fix this, thank you for wasting my time.

Little to no counication. Don't seem to want to fix problems that they made. Likes to rip off companies and mess up there taxes and take 4plus months to finish a job, well half ass finish a job.

Would never recommend, even my enemies

For anyone currently using, or thinking of using HQ for their business bookkeeping and tax filing services ...
BEWARE.
I used Headquarters for my bookkeeping and business tax filing for my 2 profitable businesses for the past 3 years.
When my profit/loss statements were continually coming up with thousands of dollars in "un-deposited funds" I started to dig deeper.
I chose to move forward without HQ, hiring a new bookkeeping/accounting firm. You would think that they would be able to pick up the pieces with relative ease. This has not been the case. I have had to spend a significant amount of time and money just to get my books back in order. I am now paying a new bookkeeper to re-do my books from the beginning of 2015. In this process a number of errors have been identified which significantly affect my SH loan, and business expenses. I've had 2 other bookkeepers and an accountant look over - and eventually re-do ALL 3 years of data, which I had paid Headquarters thousands of dollars to do. EVERYTHING was done incorrectly... Bank reconciliations entered incorrectly, omitted and duplicated transactions... even simple daily transactions were entered in error ... I could go on and on.
As a client of HQ I provided all of my data in an orderly fashion, and I paid HQ on time and as requested. I am asking myself, what did I pay for, and now why I am paying someone else to do it again?
I contacted the owner (Kellie) and Mary who was doing my books to inform them of this, and they took zero responsibility for anything. No explanation for the errors, not even an apology that I had to have ALL of my books re-done after trusting them for 3 years.
They are completely unprofessional, incompetent and are NOT to be trusted with your businesses bookkeeping and tax filing
As a business owner I am appalled by all of this. My next step is to file a complaint with the BBB, and take legal action against them.
BUYER BEWARE - They will take your money and make a complete mess of your businesses financial statements, banking and tax filing. Do not make the mistake of hiring this company.
