Anyone doing Home Renovations and requiring a review of a contractor's legal contract should contact this Team!

You don't have to be doing a huge construction project and many people probably assume that their project is too small, well think again. You need a Fair Framework that is balanced between the contractor and you the home owner, otherwise the scale is probably tipped in the contractor's favor and not yours.

Our Reno Journey:
We were preparing for a Major Renovation at our home in NDG and initially reached out to 5-6 Montreal legal firms with departments in construction law. All of them replied 2-3 days after we sent our exploratory emails and even requests for call-backs took up to a week - it was very discouraging because even their call backs were to see if someone was available to handle our contract review.

So, when we sent our email describing the scope of our Reno Project, to Hamelin & Vrkic and received a reply from Sacha (a Named Partner at the firm) that same day, it was pleasantly surprising - a very good thing!

Sacha outlined their hourly rate and provided an estimate for the time required to review the contract & provide recommendations.
We were then introduced to Simon who would do the review.

We sent a copy of our contractor's contract and within a couple of days, we received their assessment of the situation and it was explained, in an itemized format, how the contract defended the contractor's interest, but not so much for us, the homeowner.

With Simon's expertise and a discussion of what would be a more balanced proposal for the contract, he managed to weave the interests of both parties into this new contract.

Simon is very knowledgeable, creative and a good communicator. This is what you want when the law is not your trained specialty. We really felt like they were looking out for our interests while still finding a way to appease the contractor.

Summary:
This was an excellent experience and a journey we wanted to share with many who may feel intimidated by the legal process of evaluating a contractor's Reno Contract.

We also want to note that our Contractor comes Highly Recommended and has Very Good Reviews.

When it comes to payment intervals, changes in design affecting project coordination, project costs and securing a professional to review the Final Work of the contractor - It's Always Comforting to know that there are clauses in the contract that ensure the Quality of Work and ultimately your Level of Satisfaction with the whole experience.
