We initially worked Iain and his team back in 2019 to put together a well-needed business plan update and bank loan proposal. While we held off with our expansion and thankfully avoided the subsequent impact of COVID, we again approached Iain in 2020 to continue work on this. Between Entreflow's initial 2019 work and later 2020 updates, they helped us put together an effective and beautifully presented business plan / bank loan proposal. This, in large part, helped us secure a sizeable loan with Vancity!

At least one of the banks / credit unions we approached complimented us on the work that Entreflow had done for us, which was very reassuring to hear!

Their proposal had all of the right quantitative and qualitative elements: hard figures (both historical, current, and future predictions, as well as loan requirement), company information, marketing plan, visuals. They also helped us put together spreadsheets that could be updated and shared with the banks - again something very much appreciated by those institutions. Perhaps most importantly, they helped us overcome the challenges of the debt to equity ratio, which the institutions are obsessed about.

I highly recommend Entreflow (in particular Iain) for small and medium-sized businesses looking to expand and needing to put together effective proposals for financing your expansion (assuming you have an effective business to begin with, of course!). I felt that Entreflow's costs were justified, since they produce results.

Fractional CFO service was very costly with zero impact

I engaged this crew with the hopes they’d help my company get on track for making smart financial choices when it comes to our investments as well as our business model pivot we are undergoing. It seemed like we were really poised to make this happen and I was super excited for the possibilities their help might bring.

Unfortunately there was an ‘instagram vs reality’ situation there, from the sales process to the delivery of the service.

There was no single ‘manager’ or driver of the setup process, as such the dependancies they had on our team and vice versa weren’t managed to a timeline. This meant that even though setup was not complete, they automatically rolled us into the monthly plan ($3,500/month). So the bills started accumulating, even though setup wasn’t done.

We started the monthly CFO financial meetings, and I was really shocked at their advice for us. It was as generic as: ‘raise prices and you’ll make more money’ and ‘hiring good people means you should pay market rate’ type of stuff. Never did I get the feeling that our CFO had dug into our finances, industry or business model and derived valuable insights specifically for us. It was just this grade 6 level business stuff. I was confused and thought maybe they were just getting warmed up, or something like that. I gave them the benefit of the doubt to allow some time/room to succeed.

In the end, we spent over $20k, the value I anticipated deriving from the process was just so severely lacking. It felt like this company was poised to be this amazing force in our company’s success, but I actually feel very taken advantage of by this company and I’m really sad about how it transpired.
