We engaged Cohen & Chasse for the sale of our house. They quoted my wife "around $1500", but they ended out charging us $2,982.80. They charged a separate $495 to discharge the secured LOC, which was included in the other quotes I received. They charged $59.75 for photocopies, $15.00 for something called "On line", $29.50 for "File opening/storage", and $33.00 for Fax. I do not begrudge a business for trying to make a profit. But, they misrepresented the cost of services at the beginning, skipped it in the presentation/review, and only included it in the transaction report send to us 10 days after closing. They were not transparent in our dealings. Confirm all charges in writing before you consider hiring this firm!

The partner, Alison Cohen, read this review and contacted me to discuss the situation. After the conversation and a short email exchange, she offered a reimbursement to offset the difference between the quoted and charged amounts. It is good to know that there are still business owners in this day and age that will take responsibility for their mistakes and value relationships over a short term gain. We will return as customers in the future and recommend the firm to friends.

No-nonsense, straight to the point and very professional… these are the words I would use to describe Alison and her legal team. From our first consultation to weeks after the closing, we were always well informed and thoroughly explained every step of the refinance purchase process and any residuals, which can be very complicated not to mention overwhelming. My Dad and I were refinancing our first property in 2016 and were looking for a good attorney, when a friend who closed on a house a couple of years before recommended Alison office. I consider myself a very detail oriented person, sometimes pushing the boundaries on the patience of the person providing the details. I was very relieved and pleased when I found that both Alison and her father (her right-hand legal support) were not only very knowledgeable in their field but also welcomed any and all questions I had, having an open-communication policy with their clients regarding every step of the transaction. Can’t say that about many attorneys. From the contract signing, which was negotiated as much as possible in our favor and explained to us in details, to the closing table we knew we were in good hands. We felt very confident having Alison representing us as she was very hands on on every aspect of the transaction and very thorough with never-ending paperwork. Thanks to her and her legal team, our first Refinance process ended up being a much more pleasant experience than anticipated. Needless to say, if I ever plan to buy or sell another property or even open up another business, I would definitely go with Alison office again, and I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone who is looking for representation. She knows her business and she is very good at it.
