Throughout the process in purchasing or selling real estate, the transaction in of itself takes on a life of its own. Through negotiations, stressful subjects of home inspections, financing and the considerable fiscal decision in of itself, there is enough to focus on.

Once all that is behind you, there is the paperwork and legal logistics that is far above my capability and understanding; or wanting to for that matter!

In the past in experiencing some unfavourable transactions from notary’s cancelling my scheduled appointment(the day before closing date) payment withdrawal issues after insisting on a certain payment schedule with only to having to go back and re-sign which took another hour and a half of my time I was not looking forward in dealing with this portion of the process with my latest situation.

I was reffered to Sheridan through a mutual acquaintance and although I felt I could leverage the relationship should anything go sideways, I went into this with a one eye open type of attitude. This wound up being one of the best experiences.

Right from the beginning, Sheridan was quick, professional and concise. Once she had the information from my realtor, Danielle, one of her assistants helped facilitate the crossing of “I’s” and dotting of the “T’s”.

Danielle was very friendly, quick to respond to my questions and concerns and didn’t miss a beat.

The two worked seamlessly as a team and on the day of my arrival, I was greeted by one of the two receptionists who had an immediate friendly and disarming demeanour. This energy was carried through the firm as I was lead to the boardroom for my meeting which I have never experience before.

Sheridan entered the boardroom with a big smile, paperwork in hand and read everything to me upside down (she sat across the desk from me) without stumbling. Smooth, detailed and worked at a pace where I could understand everything and the questions I had, she astutely answered. Her confidence and professionalism gave me great peace of mind knowing that I could trust them with my business.

Sheridan was also able to identify a mismatch on the identification I brought that could have potentially saved me a lot of time and anguish if not dealt with in the near future. No other lawyer or Notary caught this over the last ten years and I am grateful for her attention to detail. She spotted it instantly.

You’re supposed to have a good mechanic, lawyer and accountant in your lifetime. I am fortunate to have now crossed one of those off my list and will be bringing all of my future legal needs to Sheridan.

Would I hire a lawyer from this organization again? NO, it is sad that your lawyer takes advantage of your trust.

One of the feedbacks mentioned is they are pricey! So, I created my own tracking Excel sheet, and yes, they're costly overcharges!
I don't state that it is corporate etic in this company. Still, based on my experience, Sheridan most possibly charged me based on the assumption, probably because of a lack of task tracking. I appreciate that Sheridan was willing to review the account statement! I was overcharged by $594 before any additional surcharges. After a week of discussion, the bill was adjusted for the almost correct amount.
