Title: $500 Surprise Fee and Wrong Advice Cost Me My PR – Extremely Disappointed

I was a client at Bright Immigration from July 2022 to May 2024. Things began fine, but after my original case manager left, I was never reassigned. From that point forward, I had to deal only with administrative staff. Communication became slow and inconsistent—I had to follow up multiple times just to get basic replies.

My Express Entry profile expired in December 2023, and I reached out on January 26, 2024, asking for help re-entering the pool. I didn’t get a scheduled call until March 4, 2024 — 37 days later. By then, I had already missed valuable time out of the pool.

During the March 4 consultation with CEO Blayne Kumar, I explained that I had been working as a Product Manager at a FinTech company, actively involved in software development. Despite this, I was told that my role did not qualify under the STEM category. I was advised that I’d be placed under the “No Category Specified” stream and that my CRS score of 496 wasn’t competitive. I was also told I needed to pay an additional $500 to re-enter my profile into the EE pool—even though this fee was never mentioned anywhere in my signed contract.

Because of this advice and the uncontracted fee, I hesitated to re-submit. But it turns out my experience did qualify under STEM, under NOC codes like 2013 and 21221. A STEM-specific draw happened on March 13, 2024, with a cutoff of 491. I would have received an invitation to apply for PR if my profile had been re-entered correctly and in time.

When I raised all of these issues, Bright Immigration agreed to issue me a refund. But the consequences of this misguidance were irreversible. I’m now preparing to leave Canada and return to Turkey after losing my best chance to become a permanent resident.

I'm writing this to help others avoid the same experience. Immigration is not just paperwork—it's your life. You deserve a firm that responds quickly, gives correct advice, and doesn’t introduce surprise charges when everything is on the line.

Clauses that attempt to prevent public reviews are generally unenforceable under Canadian law, especially in cases involving professional services.
