Got them to do an audit on my company books in 2023 as I was a new company. So I wanted to make sure I was doing everything correctly. There biggest concern was that I’m paying more PST then i need to on some purchases. Now in 2025 I’m getting a PST audit done and having to pay for things that were missed during there audit.
Also i chose not to use them again because once i got my books back i found bank statements from other business mixed in with my documents.

I had been waiting for an update on the reassessments for my 2017-2022 tax returns (needed a change request to add on my 2017 & 2021 Sask Grad Retention Certificates) since February and had been told by Kathleen in late April that “we are waiting on the CRA.” After that I called the CRA and spoke to two workers who told me that Kathleen had not submitted the necessary change request forms nor had she input the grad retention amounts correctly on the tax returns and that she had been notified of this and hadn’t resubmitted anything. They said “if she doesn’t know how to do it then she can call us and we will walk her through it.” I called Blackstar almost two weeks ago and was told Kathleen was unavailable and to leave a message. I told them that Kathleen needed to call me and explain or I would not be paying for incorrect work and would look for a new accountant if the errors weren’t resolved. I have not received a call back, but was emailed an outstanding invoice. The lack of communication and professionalism has been very disappointing.

I have used Black Star Accounting for a few years now & they are always excellent to deal with. Fast, friendly service & if any issues arise they are always on top of it. My taxes are fairly complex with medical expenses but they always get it done. Even now, in August, they are working hard to help me with a reassessment. Definitely the best in the industry!!

Erin has helped us a few years ago in an emergency ( due to us being late). I was expecting her to charge us more than regular fare fir the inconvenience but she didn't. She has done our taxes since. Her fees are more than reasonable. Her work is on time and well done. I highly recommend her.
