Quite possibly the worst experience I’ve ever had. My ex and I, after long conversations and negotiations, finally agreed to settle. Her lawyer, Richard Noll, was more concerned with getting HIS time in court, quickly sabotaged the agreement, telling her that because it was not formal, it is not recognized in a court of law. On the contrary, the Law Society of Ontario clearly states:

Contracts:
Once a settlement agreement is reached, it becomes a binding contract between the parties involved, regardless of whether it's formal or informal.
He was asked by the judge if an offer was indeed in place, he lied and said no.
Lawyer's Duty of Disclosure:
If a lawyer has knowledge of a settlement agreement, they have a duty to disclose its existence and terms to the court and other parties involved in the proceedings.
Lawyers play a crucial role in negotiating and facilitating settlement agreements, but they cannot force their clients to accept a settlement or override one they have agreed to. Richard Noll was more concerned about billable hours than he was the best interest of the children. He flat out lied and got away with. Now, he is trying to to get me to pay for his clients bill!! Family Law is completely upside down. Stay as far away from this man as you can.

I would not hesitate to recommend Tory Auld if you need to prepare your Will and Powers of Attorney for Property and Personal Care. I was quoted a fee for these services which included step-by-step instructions on gathering pertinent information; preparation of the documentation; submission of drafts to the client and follow-up edits where necessary; advice and opinions; easy access by telephone and personal attendance upon signing. Tory is respectful, concise and responds in a timely manner. There were no surprises. His fee and minimal disbursements were fair. And his support staff were helpful.
I drove an hour-and-a-half to meet with this lawyer and my experience was a positive one, resulting now, in two other members of my family now having their estate work prepared by Tory. It is a relief to have this legal work done and I am confident that it was prepared by a conscientious professional.

Horrible law firm. We had a litigation case that was drawn out over multiple years and money sucked from our pockets which in turn got us nowhere. Over $10000 in retainer and then they over spent and are demanding more without even warning us that they were going past the retainer amount. I do not recommend you use this firm if you want any type of resolution in your case.
We also used them for a real-estate transaction and they messed it up aswell.

Would not recommend! Giffen had represented me and my company for over 20 years. A few months ago, I had an urgent issue with my insurance company. I reached out to Giffen and after a week they finally got back to me and said they wouldn’t represent me, I should go find someone else. No explanation or advice just, take your business elsewhere. Please consider that before employing them. When you have an urgent matter and you desperately need assistance, Giffen’s answer may be, you are on your own!

Tory is horrible. For more than one reason...

1. I was Quoted $1,500 to incorporate, I assumed there would be some additional fees but when I received the invoice it was just over $1,000 more than the original quote, come to find out that the $1,500 was not the total as it was implied, it was THEIR fee ONTOP. The cost was not the issue but the lack of transparency of how much this would have been realistically. I felt very deceived by this and is ONE of the reasons why I will never use this law firm again.

2. The big issue - Tory doesn't seem to have respect for WOMEN owned businesses. I would ask questions in the consultation only to be dismissed and told "Don't worry about it I will connect with your accountant and we will decide what is best" - I did not realize that he "knew best" in making decisions for businesses he has absolutely zero experience with. I can respect a lawyer who takes the time to explain the business structure for the business owner to make better decisions for themselves, but Tory tried to take my decisions away from me completely - to the point where I had to call my accountant to walk through this with me for him to relay my choice back to Tory. So word of advice for Women owners, Do not work with this man.

3. The Process. Tory introduced his assistant (who was FABULOUS- thank you Ryan) and then I never heard from Tory again, not even a congrats happy to have helped you.. I understand that lawyers have more demanding clients, but common, to have SO much incorrect and missing information from the consult and you could clearly see how unhappy, confused and frustrated I was in the email chains, where was he to take lead for his assistant

Final thoughts, don't trust Tory to give you any accurate information or even all the information and expect him to disappear. Also don't be shocked when your bill is close to double what he "quotes" you.

It was a Real Estate deal. Tyler Nivins too care of it for us. Him and Nini were perfect. Great smooth transaction... highly recommended. Quick cheap and smooth.
