I cannot express my disappointment with this firm enough, I feel compelled to leave this review to warn others. Iâll do my best to summarize the situation;
- A lawyer at this firm came recommended to me, and I scheduled an initial consult in person. I did bring a witness to this consult that can corroborate everything Iâve written in this review.
- During the initial consult, I was as thorough as possible in communicating my needs, and I mentioned several times that this issue could end up going to court. The lawyer did not mention any concerns or ask any questions in regards to my case or court.
- I also mentioned during the initial consult that I needed this done quickly. The lawyer seemed to agree with me, however did not provide a timeline or time estimate for me.
- Once I paid the retainer, I was only then informed the lawyer was away for a week. This was extremely frustrating as I needed this done quickly, as I said before , and I was not informed that the lawyer would be away. I brushed this off as a possible miscommunication and waited.
- Once the lawyer had returned to the office, I had to follow up after a couple days for any form of update or confirmation.
- The lawyer informed me they were âvery busyâ and didnât know when they could work on my file. This was frustrating, however I had already paid a retainer and I figured it would be done within a reasonable time frame.
- 16 days after being informed they were âvery busyâ, I finally got an update on my file. At this point, it had been almost a month since I retained the lawyer, and this was the FIRST time they had done ANYTHING with my file.
- Around this time, a letter was sent out to involved parties; this was a time sensitive letter and I blindly assumed it would be sent via courier or similar, as the letter stated a timeframe on which a response was required.
- I followed up twice within 11 days, and I was only informed on the second follow-up that the letter was sent via regular mail and the lawyer had no idea when the letter was received. At this point, I was beyond frustrated, and I realized how incredibly unprofessional this firm truly is.
- On my second follow up, I asked for next steps, and I was informed that everything I had been lead to believe during our initial consult was untrue. After asking some follow up questions, I learned that the lawyer I had hired with the possibility of needing them to represent me in court, does not take court cases.
- I asked for more clarification, as I was extremely confused and upset, and I was given two different reasons why they do not take court cases, and offered no apology. The only thing that came even close to accepting any responsibility for misleading me was, and I directly quote, âI am pretty sure I told youâ (in reference to not taking court cases).
- This lawyer also used personal health problems as what I assume was a way to try to deflect blame and/or gain my sympathy. I can absolutely empathize with health issues, and while I do feel for this lawyer, I do not feel comfortable with these personal issues only being brought up when I expressed dissatisfaction with their service. This felt very unprofessional and manipulative.
- When I asked why the lawyer mentioned proceeding with court in a written correspondence if that was not possible, they told me it was solely because I âwanted them to say thatâ. Iâm unsure why proceeded with court would be mentioned by the lawyer if the lawyer was unable/unwilling to proceed with court.
I wasted well over a month of my time and my money with this lawyer, solely because I believed that they could provide me with all the services I had initially asked for. I feel extremely misled, I would have never ever hired this lawyer if I knew theyâd be unable to do the services I wouldâve potentially needed. For all these reasons, Iâd recommend avoiding this law firm.
