Yulia was gracious enough to take valuable time out of her schedule to provide myself and another unit owner with further insight on how we can approach our current condominium situation. She provided us with extensive knowledge that clarified a lot of questions myself and other unit owners had.

I hope Yulia is further recognized for her dedication and efforts at DEO Condominium Lawyers. She is truly an asset to this industry!

Do not hire them if you want professional lawyers representing you. Last night Francesco Deo came to chair owners meeting for PCC 291, and he did nothing but defended racist remarks made by people in the room and provided no clear answers to questions asked by owners.

One of the owner wanted to record the meeting to which Francesco said let’s take a vote to see who agrees with it. Majority of people said yes to recording the meeting, very few disagreed. Despite majority of people saying yes, and despite the voting being his original idea, he shot down the proposal with concerns for “privacy” for the minority group.

As the meeting progressed, there were multiple racist remarks made. A man said “this building has everything and has been operating without a fault for so long, if people don’t like it they can go to those low income buildings and see how they like them.” Then another lady said verbatim “this building always works like clockwork and suddenly why are we making a big deal about nickels and dimes, I have lived here for 16 years and now I wonder what kind of people have moved in here”.These were blatant racist remarks to which people protested and started leaving the meeting. Not once Mr. Deo rebuked the lady who made such an offensive comment, yet he started berating people for the commotion made by said remark. And the nickels and dimes she was referring to is another 7% increase in condo fees, which makes it 7% increase second year in a row.

His opening statement was that he was there simply to chair the meeting. But as owners started asking questions to the president and directors of the board, Francesco kept jumping in to give answers, and his answers were nothing detailed and vague. He was simply parroting condominium acts and regulations. When pressed hard on certain topics, he would visibly fumble and push the question away for “to be discussed later” or “not in the meeting requisition”.

In conclusion, don’t hire them and waste your money. There are better lawyers out there who works with integrity and takes pride in their profession. This guy is not one of them.

Do not trust them.They were consistently late, disorganized, and seemed to be in over their head. My case was handled poorly, and I had to deal with additional stress and costs because of their ineptitude. They seemed more interested in their commission than actually helping me. I wouldn’t trust them with any legal matter.
They seemed clueless about basic legal procedures and kept giving me incorrect information. I ended up losing my case because of their incompetence. The lawyer in charge was Michael D. Pascu.

Mario Deo has guided and protected our condo legally since it opened 14 years ago with knowledgeable advice, and a philosophy of trying to resolve things amicably, knowing conflicts tend to be more expensive. In the last couple of years, our condo has faced some new issues and Mario connected us with more of his firm's lawyers who have lower fees, knowing that costs would become a concern for us.

For a simple contract review, we've worked with Rohina Hashimi, his junior lawyer who has provided us with valuable advice and suggestions for a major renovation.

Francesco Deo has been incredibly responsive when it comes to our needing advice on how to proceed on certain issues, or representing us on any matters involving resident issues and external issues, even showing up to a board meeting on Zoom with only a couple hours notice. He presents different options clearly while explaining the rationale for which one may be the best to proceed with, and he backs it up with confidence so we can be sure we've made the right decision when we act.

And then for our most contentious issue, we've been connected with their litigator Yulia Pesin, or as Mario calls her: "The Shark". As frustrating as the situation gets, Yulia always preaches kindness and an amicable resolution first. If that doesn't work, she's quick to issue a sharp warning to the other parties, with some clever strategies that have regularly helped us solve these issues, while always trying to leave the door open for peaceful resolutions in future interactions.

I always appreciate seeing members of Deo's firm at industry events where they provide their expertise and thought leadership on important issues facing us as condo directors, and I especially enjoyed when they invited all their clients to an educational event last year where we could get our legal questions answered at no cost, and with free food too.
