I booked a tour of Tombstone for my family. Nathan was our pilot. He is very professional and an incredible person! He explained us all the safety and helped in everything making our experience worthwhile. He is very knowledgeable, showed us tombstone area in a really informative way and shared the stories. The ride was super smooth and the machine was very spacious, clean and newer! Will cherish this experience for lifetime! Thank you Nathan, you are amazing!!

We booked a helicopter tour of Tombstone Territorial Park with Nathan. We had an amazing time. We felt very safe throughout and were really happy with their professionalism. We were explained all safety procedures and shown the location of all emergency equipment. The helicopter felt new. As for the trip, it was epic! The views were amazing, even in the winter.

We had a great flight! Doug was a fantastic pilot and guide. It was a little hazy (smoke) but we still managed to get great views. Highly recommended if you get the chance. Dress warmer than you think you'll need.

Quite a poor experience with this operator. I’ve flown and dealt with several different operators all over western Canada and never had such an unprofessional experience as this one.

Without any warning, Trans North Dawson picked up a contract elsewhere as of late summer and fall (August), and moved all bookings over to another operator, Fireweed Helicopters.

I made my booking with them in March over the phone under my full name, and phone number; dates confirmed. I called back a couple months before our dates, I was told over the phone that we could fly into Talus in the AM when weather is good, and that we could be picked up on our date in the afternoon because they had some other bookings that day. Fine by me, done deal, happy to have it confirmed, I always follow up. The most recent call which was on August 2nd and was an inquiry regarding leaving our carry on baggage inside their office whilst my group and I were in the back country. They know we existed, they know the plan, clear communication was made.

I try to follow up yet again a few days before our dates and I cannot get a hold of them in Dawson City. Phone goes straight to voicemail. Coincidentally I was in contact with the Senior Park Ranger, Lolita, around the same time, and she mentioned that Trans North was cancelling some people’s bookings and she didn’t know exactly what was going on with it. This concerned me obviously and now it started to make sense why they weren’t picking up the phone.

Today, which is one day before our booked flights, I am at the interpretive center for the park, and Olivia and I have an exchange about the company and she mentions that their machines are still flying in/out. OK I thought, so I’ll just stop by the Trans North building and see what’s going on. It’s always easier to talk in person anyway.

Office closed, not a machine in sight. At this point in time, I’ve called Trans North several times over the past few days; attempting to figure out what’s going on. Finally today, I speak with Joanie from Trans North in Yellowknife, who actually has some concrete information on what’s going on - she tells me that Trans North is not operating in Dawson right now and that they’re picked up a contract elsewhere, which explained why I hadn’t been able to get ahold of them; and also that they’ve moved their bookings over to Fireweed. I had a suspicion that something like this was going on, but the process of getting this information was much more difficult than it should’ve been. This was like pulling teeth.

Not only was it nearly impossible to get a hold of information from the Dawson manager, but I was never contacted about this change, and on top of that, Joanie says we were never pencilled in. This makes 0 sense - considering I called them 3 times between March and now regarding this booking and they took down my name and phone number along with our dates and even confirmed what times they were going to be available to drop us off and pick us up. I had to chase down this information and at the last minute make a booking with another operator.

I was told they attempted to call me and left a voicemail, but I have no missed call from any of their numbers, and not a single voicemail.

I cannot give more than a one star rating. Do better, their clients time is important, there are people who travel from across the world to get to this park via Trans North’s service and errors like this can ruin a trip, trips where money and time are involved. My group and I are fortunate that Fireweed was available, and even though they’re busily picking up Trans Norths loose weight, they were able to fit us in.

I’d strongly reconsider doing business with Trans North in Dawson City if you’re looking for drop off and pickup in the park. If you want professional, punctual, and respectful service, do not even attempt to deal with this operator. Save the headache.
