Have gone for at least 2 brain scans. Was lied to both times saying my brain was fine when it was not! Asked to see the brain scans and was given written reports instead saying everything was normal (when I actually had severe brain damage). I just started the brighter side of my recovery and am very angry realizing the hospital lied to me! Why would you do this

Never had an actually good experience here. Staff have neglected patients for decades here & they'll never stop. I have respect for nurses & doctors only when they have respect for their patients as well, which doesn't happen often at this hospital. At least in my experience.

This is more of an observation/ critique .
The staff that is the receptionist in Diagnostic imaging should have the authority to re direct people from having a Exray downstairs when they can clearly see someone has a different walking ability and on oxygen. I know scheduling will be affected but sometimes common sense should prevail. The staff showed such respect and compassion and walked with the person down to his apmt. Please give them the authority to make judgement calls that are pro active towards the patients needing diagnostic imaging and schedule them on a machine on the same floor !

One star taken off because of the incredibly long wait times in the ER... however...

The care I received while coming in for gallbladder surgery was above and beyond.

I was taken as an inpatient after a 12 hour ER wait to avoid having to wait a month for surgery. My only major concern was the fact that I have a 5 week old exclusively breastmilk fed baby girl. I was fairly immediately given a room in the ER where I could collect breastmilk for my baby in privacy. They found a hospital grade pump for me and helped me store collected milk in their fridge. I am beyond thankful for the nurses in the ER that worked to make that happen while the ER was so busy. I am also thankful to the doctor and surgeon that explained what was happening to me and treated me with great respect.

After some time, they moved me to a room in 1C (maternal newborn) where I was able to pump milk with a hospital grade pump, have someone available that could care for my baby if I wasn't able to, and a bassinet was given to me so my baby could stay in the room with me. This is way more than I was expecting but it made my surgery and stay at the hospital so much better and more comfortable than I could have hoped for.

Additionally, my surgery was completed within 24 hours of a diagnosis, while I was expecting to wait at least 2-3 days for my surgery as I was a low priority, on-call patient. My surgeon was polite and so kind about my concerns. My anaesthesiologist made me feel comfortable, my nurse in the OR made sure I was covered and warm and not too upset. Even the porter who moved me from 1C to the OR was amazing & patient with me.

Altogether I had an extremely positive experience, and it made me feel so happy about having future visits done at the hospital. Thank you so much everyone who was involved.

If you are staying or hospitalized for more than a day, make sure you bring your own food cause the cafeteria only opens until 6:30pm during week days and 3pm during weekends.

Subject: Injustice and Disrespect: Neglect of Indigenous Elders at TBRHSC

It is absolutely unacceptable that an elder, Esther, who has served as Chief of Wabigoon for 30 years and has dedicated her life to supporting her community, should be treated with such disrespect in her final days. This is not just about one patient; it represents a systemic failure and racial injustice.

This photo shows Esther lying on a thin mat in a hospital hallway. For a woman who has given so much to her community, this lack of basic human decency is appalling. The hospital should have provided her with proper care—a stretcher or bed is the bare minimum. This is clearly a failure to provide dignified end-of-life care for an Indigenous woman, and it reflects a broader issue of systemic racism in healthcare.

Indigenous women deserve respect and dignity, especially in their final days. If this is the standard of care for elders, what does it say about how the healthcare system values the lives of Indigenous people?

TBRHSC, Eric Mellilo, Greg Rickford—this needs immediate attention. Racism and neglect in healthcare are serious issues, and it’s time for action, not excuses.

An Indigenous elder was given the floor to sleep on rather than a bed or at least a stretcher, after her first radiation treatment. Is this a racist act? If she were non-Indigenous, would've she gotten a bed? This is how TBRHS treats some of their patients, and it's sad. I would've gotten out of my way to find her something to sleep on if I seen this right in front of me, no matter what race. Do better!
