I suggest you stay away lawyer Lawrence Smith and his team. He was assigned to us after we reached out to this firm for employment dispute. The initial consultation was not bad, he seemed nice and knowledgeable, so we trusted him to help us. There were 3 major dissatisfaction. 1. We asked them to include all our legal fees in the demand letter for employer to cover. They came up with a number which turned out not enough, because their rate was really high. Of course they asked us to confirm the letter before sending out, but we trusted their estimation. 2. There is still a missing bill which we don’t know details of their charges. When we asked his assistant for it via email, her tone seemed very arrogant and never delivered to us. All we can think of the possible charge on that day was a phone call with Lawrence for like 5 minutes long, and the missing bill was over $700, that’s very crazy. 3. Only now we learned that because we returned to work less than 3 months after coming back from maternity leave and was laid off, we were not entitled to EI. Lawrence and none of his team noticed this piece so no advice from him for it. I think a professional and experienced lawyer would have thought of this if he cared about his clients. We missed the opportunity to work around this before settlement with the employer. To us, this reflected that Lawrence and his team don’t have true empathy for clients experiencing difficulties and lack of knowledge to fight for such event, so they don’t think deep for our interests. They care more about earning money and getting paid, and because they know laws well, they know how to handle services that won’t take them into troubles. This mindset and behaviour may also reflect the culture of this law firm. We will never recommend this place to our families and friends.

This firm has gone ABOVE and BEYOND the regular recall that a legal firm would do. They are looking out for my best interests!! I felt VERY COMFORTABLE with the lawyer who is representing me. I felt as though I was treated like FAMILY, rather than a CLIENT. I can't say enough good things about my representation!! They're VERY PROFESSIONAL and I KNOW I'm in good hands with my case. We hired Daniel Sorensen to resolve a Defined Benefit Pension loss that 3 of us claimed when the company we worked many years for was sold. Daniel is one of the very few lawyers that represent individuals rather than corporations in pension matters. Pension litigation is very technical and time consuming. Daniel did a great job of litigating our claim and got us a fair settlement. We highly recommend Daniel and we would definitely use him again in any future litigation issues.

This is the same firm located in chilliwack. I used their services there and they missed the deadlines provincial and federally but continued to bill me almost $10,000hoping I would drop the case. Be very careful with this law firm
