You told lies on record to the judge about my facts, even after I corrected you during our phone conversation the day before, you continued to lie and even stated "they won't fact check." I also didn't have the chance speak to you before court, despite the appointment we had set up VIA phone. Furthermore, you said you were running 5 to 10 minutes late, but didn't attend our meeting until 30 minutes into the court session; you didn't even let me know until I tried calling and texted you multiple times. Frankly I paid you money for a service that I didn't receive. You were barely present through the entire process. You then spoke to me very briefly after court and then left early for an appointment. I am appalled by your lack of professionalism and disregard for the law.

She called me offering to be my lawyer and once she was hired was nearly impossible to get in contact with. Extremely unprofessional She Shared personal information regarding my case with my ex-wife that I did not give her permission to speak to regarding these matters. She did not show up for first appearance. She kept putting my case over for no reason other than her complete lack of preparation
She could not pronounce my name, could not remember how many children I had after I had corrected her several times. She wanted a quick resolution that was not in my best interest and disagreed with what I had asked her to say to the court at my sentencing hearing even though the judge sentenced me the way I had expected after she begrudgingly spoke to the court in almost word for word what I had a third party send her. She wasn’t even able to convince the court to allow me a Pre-sentence report which is almost never refused. The icing on the cake was after my sentencing when the judge was reading off my probation orders she walked over to the crowns desk and asked him to add an order to my probation order that had nothing to do with my matters but was a direct result of her conversation with my ex-wife in between my conversation with Crystal and my court appearance. She is representing my ex wife against me in divorce court. A complete conflict of interest. Do not hire this lawyer. She is a complete dump truck that has no clue what she is doing. If you see her number or she calls to represent you please run the other direction. By far the worst lawyer I have ever dealt with

Crystal is presently my lawyer in an ongoing criminal case. She was appointed to me through legal aid. I listened to her when she first called me. I also spoke to another lawyer but felt that Crystal was my fit. I read the reviews here and seen the good ones and the not so good reviews. Not everyone is a good fit and sometimes things dont turn out the way we hope they do. The legal system here, in Alberta, is also not without its areas of dysfunction. So despite the mixed reviews I decided to take my chances with Crystal.

While it is true that Crystal can be challenging to get a hold of, as she works from Grandprairie through to Edson and many places in between, she does legal aid cases, acts as duty counsel, and practices in family law, criminal law, and more, so although she may be difficult to reach, she has never left me hanging when I needed her. Oh there were times I have felt frustrated because she was not calling me back when I felt I needed her lol. But she always called when it was necessary . She even has taken time out of her day to call when I was struggling with my anxiety.

I believe Crystal to be professional. Unconventional at times but always professional. I believe that even when you dont see her working, or hear from her, she is diligently working behind the scenes. I believe that she has a heart for justice and a desire for reform within the legal system. She has dedicated her career to law. To helping people who have made bad life choices at times but whom are not bad people. I believe, that unlike some lawyers, she does not choose her clients with a motive to advance her career but rather to bring justice where there has been none. I have seen her show mercy and compassion in the court room as well as a quiet strength and certainty. I have seen other lawyers try to smear her name and She took the higher road. She may be little in stature but she is fierce in her dedication to her clients. It does not matter to Crystal if you are a paying client, a legal aid client, or a duty counsel client. Crystal fights for the best interest of her clients always. I believe Crystal to have a moral code and personal as well as professional ethics that make her a great lawyer. It is easy to blame your lawyer when things do not go as you have desired, but a lawyer can only do so much within the confines of our legal system.

My own matter is not concluded and will not be until December 14th at which time I will be sentenced. No matter the outcome I will leave that day ,, to home or to jail, knowing and firmly believing that Crystal gave her all for my case while also giving her all to her other clients. I also know that if I am incarcerated she will continue to fight for me.
